The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to a deal with Dariq Whitehead, according to the team and Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Whitehead, a 2023 first-round pick who spent the past two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets, has dealt with shin and foot injuries early on in his career.

Last season, Whitehead averaged 5.7 points in 12.3 minutes across 20 games for the Nets. He posted a season-high 18 points in a loss to the Chicago Bulls on Dec. 2, 2024.

Before entering the NBA, Whitehead spent the 2022–23 season at Duke University, averaging 8.3 points per game on 42% shooting. During his time in Durham, he played alongside Kyle Filipowski of the Utah Jazz and Dereck Lively II of the Dallas Mavericks.

Whitehead was signed quickly, with the 21-year-old joining the Thunder on an Exhibit 10 contract. The deal gives Oklahoma City his G-League rights, joining a team with a reputation for developing young talent.

The Oklahoma City Blue, the Thunder’s G-League affiliate, has produced multiple NBA players, including Tre Mann of the Charlotte Hornets and Ty Jerome of the Memphis Grizzlies. Several players from the Thunder’s 2024-25 roster—including Luguentz Dort, Aaron Wiggins, Isaiah Joe, Jaylin WIlliams, Ousmane Dieng—also developed with the Blue.
