Keegan Murray suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb during Friday’s preseason loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, the Sacramento Kings announced.
Murray is set to have surgery and will be reevaluated in four-to-six weeks.
Murray is entering his fourth season and is eligible for an extension ahead of the Oct. 20 deadline. If no agreement is reached, he’ll become a restricted free agent next summer.
Through his first three seasons, Murray has been exceptionally durable, appearing in 233 of 246 games and starting all but two.
In the meantime, the Kings will need to find a replacement to make up for Murray’s absence at the forward position.
